HOSPITAL TRUSTEES.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Gisborne Hospital Trustees was* held last evening. Present : Air. J. AV. Bright (chairman), Messrs F. J. Lysnar, A. Dewing. A. "F. Matthews, T. Holden. E. H. M.ann, and the Hon. Captain Tucker. A cheque, subscribed by a number of Chinese residents of the district- towards the funds of the Hospital, was received from Air. AY. Tan. Tho amount (£l3 7s) was received with thanks. The chairman remarked that, although the Chinese were liberal, ho did not remember a Chinese patient in the Hospital. Dr. AVikon reported that 23 patient-; were in tho institution, against 57 last month. The Chairman reported that the applications for the position of matron had been considered, and two recommended to Dr. Abilin tine for consideration. Dr. Abilintino’s report was expected by mail this morning. Mv A. F. Matthews was re-appointed lion, treasurer for the ensuing year. The secretary (Mr. E. C. Mat-thews) presented the annual balance-sheet, which has not yet been audited, and is therefore not available for publication. The balance-sheet was passed, . subject to being certified by the auditor. The estimates of receipts and expenditure for the ensuing year were road and adopted. The amount required from the Charitable Aid Board will be only £2600, as against £4IOO required last- year; a reduction in the amount required from the public of 01800. Last- year a heavy expenditure was incurred on account of new buildings.
