CORRESPONDENCE.

[Correspondence on public matters is welcomed at all times, but it must be distinctly understood that this journal is in no way associated with the opinions of its correspondents.] ON BOARD THE FLORA. [To The Editoe.] Sir, —I am sorry to trouble you again on this matter. 1 recognise the justice of your bringing mv complaint to the notice of the official referred to in my previous letter, as evidenced by your foot-note to the publication. I think, however, that you have been misled, and the excuse tendered you savors, of prevaiicataion. You were not told that the “passenger” launch went out almost laden to the gunwale with cargo, and returned with a considerable back freight. This is the real fact of the case, and accounts for the time, almost eight hours from the time of leaving the wharf till the return, and the weather wao not the true .cause of the delay. It may safely be said that the convenience of the (passengers was of little moment when the consumption of a few shillings’ worth of coal was 'the consideration. Under the circumstances one of the lighters should have, taken the cargo and not the passenger launch. I will say no more on the subject and leave it in ihe hands of the genera] public and more, especially the residents on the Coast. —I am, etc., “ONE OF THE PASSENGERS.”
