THE MAYORALTY.

[To The Editor.] Sir, —I -see that Mr I. Simson is going to put up as a councillor. Now, Sir, after reading about the golden cradle and him getting a purse of sovereigns when leaving Gore, why should he not put up for Mayor of this city? I am 6ure there is no more popular gentleman in Gisborne, and I have no doubt but that he would be returned at the head of the .poll, and as for entertaining the Governor, or even King Edward if he comes along, we would have the right man in the right place. Miller and Lysnar may take a back seat if he will only stand. Hoping the gentleman named will give it his serious consideration. —I am, etc. - A LADY.”
