THE Y.M.C.A.

ISOAIiD OF DIRECTORS. The monthly meeting of the Board, of Directors of the Y.M.C.A. was held last evening, Mr. C. Rosie (vice-presi-dent) in the chair. Mr. E. H. Mann was appointed to a vacancy on the. Board, and Mr. J. R. Kirk was elected a vice-president of the Association. The general 'secretary reported that the membership was 34-3, and that the rooms were frequented each evening by large numbers. A long discussion took place in regard to the future work of the Association in its various departments, and committees were empowered to deal with the religious work and physical work at once. It was agreed to make an endeavor to purchase any gymnastic apparatus available in the town, and if possible to commence a class for physical culture this'winter. A “Strangers’ Tea,” a department of Y.M.C.A. work, which is very successful in other places, is to be held next Sunday at 5.30 p.m., and will be preceded by a meeting of those interested in the religious work of the Association. The social life of the Association is being well catered for, and the Literary and Debating Society commences its session this evening, when three candidates will stand in a mock mayoral election. The general public are invited to the ineetings'cf the society.
