SHEEP DOG TRIALS.
SPECIAL Pltl7.ES. A meeting of the Poverty Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club was hold at the Ormond Hotel last evening, -Mr. J. A. Caesar presiding. The following special prizes we re a ward ed:— President's Cup, valued at eight guineas, presented by Sir. J. A. Caesar, for the best teqm of dogs. —Mr. P. Mackenzie. Hawke’s Bay, with a total of 518 points, the team being Roy, Lad, ami Boy. Mr. E. Williams’ prize one guinea, for the noisiest hunt-away dog scoring over 15 points, was awarded to Mr. K. McDonald’s Darkio. Mr. Geo. Hawkins’ prize of one guinea, for the dog doing quietest heading. was awarded to Mr. P. Mackenzie’s Roy, and the same owner’s Lad was awarded Mr. C. Keenan’s prize of one guinea, for the dog doing the best yarding work. The same dog also won Mr. E. O’Sullivan’s prize of one guinea for the dog best under command. Mr. \Y. E. Astin’s prize of two guineas, for the conuSctitor casting his clog in best style in Class 1., was awarded to Mr. J. Elver. The other prizes were awarded as follows:—Mr. \V. Good’s prize, to Mr. G. Hinton’s Skipper, with 79 points; Mr. A. Zachariah’s prize, to Mr. Bruce’s t Morpeth; Messrs' Primrose and Leslie & prize to Mr. A. Thompson’s Sprig, with 43 points; Mr A. Mclvenzie’s prize and the “Times” Company’s prize were also won by Mr. A. Thompson’s clog. Messrs Tait and McDonald’s challenge Cup was won by Mr. A. McKenzie, who, having won the trophy tortwo years, will retain it in liis possession.' Messrs Anderson and Boms’ cup was won by G. Hinton’s Skipper. Mi. J. Herbert won Mr. H. J.
