BOWLING.
THE INTER-CLUB MATCH. The deciding match of the rubber between the Gisborne and Turanganui Clubs will be played on the green of the latter on Thursday afternoon. Each club has had a win in the contest, and Thursday’s match is looked forward to with great interest. It is understood that each club will make its best effort to win. The. match is to lie played at four rinks. The following players have been selected to represent the Gisborne Club: F. Pettie, Hookey 5 Eure, Ponsford (skip);J, H. Martin, F. Harris. Corsop, Simson (skip); W. Pettie. Mackintosh It. Robertson, Crawford (skip); Williams, Ambridge. Hennessy, F. Marton (skip). Should any of the above players be unable to attend, it is requested that they at once inform the secretary (Mr. C. H. Ambridge). The following will represent the Turanganui Club: —A. Zachariali, M. Neill. J. Colley, J. P. Gaudin (skip); W. H. Douglas, T. McConnell, P. Hallam, M. G. Nasmith, jnr (skip); B. Hird. C. J. Bennett, \v. Rateliffe, J. J. Martin (skip); F. Farrell, D. Hepburn. J. P. Williams, A. Sawyer (skip). Any player unable to take part in the match is requested to notify the secretary (Mr. W. 0. Skeet). Players are requested to be on the ground at 1.30 p.m. TURANGANUI CLUB. A special meeting of the Turanganui Bowling Club was held at the Royal Hotel last evening. Mr. D. Hepburn, (vice-president) was in the chair, and about 20 members were present. The secretary (Mr. W. 0. Skeet) read a requisition, signed by nine members, requesting that a meeting he held to decided whether the date of the annual meeting of the club should be altered from September to July. Air. J. Colley moved —“That the annual meeting of the club be held during the first week in Ju’y.” He pointed out that, as the season opened in October, an election of officers in September did not allow the incoming officers sufficient time to get things in order for the new season. lie also pointed out that the annual meeting of the Gisborne Bowling Club was held in July. Mr. A. Sawyer seconded the motion. Mr. Colley explained that his motion was not intended as any reflection on the. present officers of the club. Mr. J. B. Leydon supported the motion, which was carried unanimously. The following match in. connection with the Bennett Cup has been decided :—J. J. Martin IS beat C. J. Bennett 17. —On the Bth head Bennett led by 11 to 3, but on the 14th head Martin had raised his score to 12, while Bennett had not scored further. On the 18th head Martin was 15 to Bennett's 14. The latter required two to tie on the last head, but only scored a single. A match in the handicap singles was played recently and resulted in A. Sawver (2) defeating J. B. Leydon (14) by 30 to 20. WAREHOUSEMEN v. LICENSED VICTUALLERS. A rink match between the Licensed Victuallers and the Warehousemen is to be played on the Gisborne green this afternoon. The Licensed 'S ictualleis team will bo as tollows: A. Zacliaiiah, j. A. Lucas, F. Harris, J. J. Martin (skip).
