FOOTBALL.

POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union was held last night in the Masonic Hotel. Present: -essrs H. E. Maude (chairman), J. A. Eaton, HBright, G. K. P-asley, V. Johnston, L. O. Ingram, and E. L. Maude (hon. sec). The Whatatuiu Club wrote appointing Mr. W. S. McCredie as their delegate to the Union. A letter was received from the Povertv Bay Cricket Association, thanking the Union for their liberality in the matter of gate receipts at the Easter matches, and forwarding the Union's percentage of the receipts. —Received. The use of the ground was granted to :be High School on Tuesdays and Fridays from 3.30 p.m. to 5 p.m., subject to the discretion of the Union. The newly-formed United Club were allowed the use of No. 1 ground at the Domain on Saturday next for the purposes of a practice match woth the Y.M.C.A. Club. The colors of the United Club (dark green) were also registered. , . Permission was also granted to tne Star Club to use the ground on Thursday for a practice match with the Gisborne Club. It was decided to ooen the season proper on Thursday, 29, with a seven-a-side tournament, open to _ all affiliated clubs, and on Saturday, Mav Ist, with a match between town and country teams. , „ , r - Messrs J- S. Wauchop and A . S. McCredie were appointed selectors or the country team, and the town fifteen will be selected by Messrs 3- A- Eaton and R. Morse, > . The election of a selection committee for the season was left to a general meeting of delegates to the Union.
