Ngaruahoc is stated to be in greater activity than ever. Yesterday, in addition "to the eruptions of Ngaruahoe, the whole of the Tongariro plains were alive with thermal excitement, dense clouds of steam arising from the Mare and the Red Crater and also from Ivitetahi springs. Then, about ll o clock, the volcano poured a mighty volume of heavy smoke several thousand leet. high while dust ivas discharged in dense shower after shower over Tongariro and the Waimanno side. . lor nearly half an hour the mountain thus labored and convulsed, roaring and rumbling the while within its depths, so that the noise and tremor of it were appreciable ten miles away. The nrevious night, it is stated by the groom at. Mananui changing station, was marked by more disturbances and explosive noises from the mountain than at anv time since the outbreak.
