King Edward has telegraphed, welcoming Air Roosevelt to British East Africa, and wishing him a pleasant time and every success.
THE NIMROD’S MOVEMENTS. SYDNEY, April 24. After refitting .the Nimrod proceeds to AJacquarie Island to collect specimens, and also to investigate other subAntarctic islands whose position oi existence is obscure and the party will endeavor to locate Emerald Island. Nimrod Group, and Dougherty Island. The work will lie in charge of Captain Davis. DAAIAGEJ3Y CYCLONE, The recent cyclone in the New Hebrides group did damage to the extent of £16.000. Three natives were drowned at Aide. A native church at Tongoa was swept off its foundations. Twenty other native churches were demolished. The heaviest blow lasted two hours. Twelve inches of ram fell m fivo hours. THE BROKEN HILL DIFFICULTY SETTLED. Now that the High Court’s decision lias been -given the Broken Hiil directors consider that it removes what was objectionable and unworkable. They intend to resume operations on Alondav, .giving employment to 1200 hands. The loss of wages during the strike was a quarter of a million pounds. ATTACK ON A PATROL. LONDON. April 23. The Alahsuds killed a patrol of ten cavalrymen on the north-west fi ontier. GENERAL BOOTH’S BIRTHDAY. There was an enthusiastic gathering of Salvationists at Albert Hall, celebrating General Booth’s birthday . All Asquith sent hearty congratulations and best wishes. * BISHOP SELWYN’S CENTENARY. The centenary of Bishop Selwyn will be celebrated at Lichfield. Cambridge, and other places. The offertories will bo divided between the Selwyn College and the Pattison memorial wing at St. John’s, Auckland. THE PRINCE OF WALES. (Received April 20, 4 p.m.) LONDON, April 24.
