FIRE AT HASTINGS.

A LARGE LOSS: [Per Press Association.] HASTINGS April 24. At midnight a fire was discovered in Phillip and Wright’s furniture factory. In thirty minutes the place was in ruins. The fire spread to the Cottage of Hallinan’s (blacksmith), and the. inmates were rescued by the police. The insurances on the factory cover less. than half the loss, which is considerable. Hallinan’s cottage was insured for £l5O in the Phoenix office, and the furniture for £75 in the Standard office.

The total insurance on Phillip and Wright’s building, stock and machinery was £IOOO in the North Queensland office. The loss is estimated at £2OOO.
