PRESENTATION TO MR. J. KINDER.
After the ordinary business of the annual meeting of the Teachers’ Institute on Saturday bad been transacted, the President (Mr. J. Wane-hop) referred to the loss of the services at" the end of last year of Mr. J. Kinder, B.A. He said it would be admitted that Mr. Kinder’s interest in the Institute and Sports Association had always been a loyal one, and his place would be hard to fill. He regretted very much the circumstances that- rendered Mr. Kinder’s retirement necessary. On behalf of the Institute- lie -presented Mr. Kinder with a purse of sovereigns. (Applause.) Messrs R. Cole (Mangapapa). -J. [McLeod (Ormond), J. C-. Woodward (Patntalii)," IT. Bull (Kaiti), F. J. Rowley B.A. (Gisborne), and other teachers also spoke in laudatory terms of Mr. Kinder.
in reply, Air. Kinder thanked his old colleagues and the members of the Institute for their kind words and their handsome present. He had, he said, always been on the best of terms with the teachers of the district. The teachers here were a body to be proud of. and he hud found no difficulty to keep the Institute together. When a newcomer arrived in the district the teachers received him as a brother, and therefore the new arrival felt that he must join the Institute. The Institute and the Sports Association had his very best wishes for their future success.
