JANET, LADY CLARKE

Ex-Judge AYi Iso u, of the Native Land Court .died to-day. The deceased, who was born in 1829, arrived in New Zealand in 1833. His early days were spent in the Bay of Islands district. JUDGE EDGER. Court in 1879 as secretary to Chief Judge Fenton, acting in a like capacitv successively to Chief Judges McDonald ami Seth-Smith. In 1891 ho. was appointed Registrar of the Native Land Omrt at Auckland, and was transferred to the Wellington District in a like capacity in 1893. Hc< was appointed a Judge of the Native Land Court i.u 189! and in 1908 was made LrnlerSeereiary of the Native Department, but resigned in the following year, j mb’o Edger was an accomplished musician, a' sine qua non to: an appointment in the Native Land Court muier Judge Fenton’s .jurisdiction. He was a solicitor of the Supreme Court,j but had never practised his profession. Bis sister. Miss Lil ian Edger. R.A., is well known in theosophical circles.
