GISBORNE CHAMPION TOURNEY
Play in the third annual billiard championship competition began .at the Victoria Billiard Saloon last evening. There are nine competitors, each of ‘whom has to play all the others. The trophy competed for is a silver challenge cun, with a gold medal, the latter ’to be retained by ' the winner. Prizes are also offered for the runner-up and for the fastest time. Last bvening F. MoPhie heat B. Richards by 88 points, the game being 300 up. The losei played a .good game, but bad veiy baa luck. The time was 75 minutes. F. Austin beat J. Gosnell by 157 points. The time was very fast, 5.0, rninute.i,. Austin made two good breaks or ub and 33 a ud played a remarkably good game.
