A SINGULAR TRAGEDY.
FANTASTIC SUICIDE. AN AMATEUR ACTOR’S DEATH. United Press Association —Copyright LONDON, May 3. The body of a man, dressed in a woman’s hall costume and manacled, was washed ashore at Penzance, Cornwall. The body was identified as that of a man named Platen to to an actor from New York. (Received May 3, 11.15 p. 111.) The Penzance victim is Douglas S. Pauton, a London solicitor and amateur aotor. The case is regarded as one of fantastic suicide. The "Chronicle’ states that Panton was a grandson of W. P. Frith, the Royal Academican, and recently suffered from a bad attack of* influenza.
