The • paper added that. the dominions will certainly prefer to spend their own money in their own way, but there is no reason why the respective fields of expenditure should not be marked out by agreement to secure the maximum benefit for the Empire as a whole. Representatives of the dominions and -colonies to be invited to the subsidiary naval and military defence conference will include those of Canada, Newfoundland, Cape Colony, Natal, Transvaal, .and Orangia. The proceedings, as far as is known, will be private. Mr. Asquith will open the conference. . NEW ZEALAND REPRESENTATION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 5. The Government has not yet considered the question of New Zealand being represented at the Imperial Naval Conference in London in July.
