WAIHI GOLD MINE.
NEW REEF DISCOVERED

WAIHI, May 7. The discovery of a strong mineralised reef in the Waihi Extended mine, adjoining the Grand Junction, has created general interest in the district. The manager stated that possibly it was the 'Martha reef, but until further developments, which are being delayed owing to the volume of water coming from it, its true idenitity could not be ascertained. * -Later.
The discovery of a strong mineralised reef in the Waihi Extended Goldmining Company’s mine, which adjoins the Grand Junction mine, has created considerable general interest. The intersection of the reef occurred in the low level crosscut, which was being driven to pick up the main Martha reef of the Waihi mine. The manager stated that possiblv it is this lode. He also stated that tii© strike of the reef was in the direction of the adjoining property, the Pride of Waihi. Further development for the time being is delayed owing to the volume of water coming from the reef.
