VALEDICTORY.
PRESENTATION TO MR. BRODRICK.
There was a large muster of Civil Servants in the Land Board Office on Saturday, when the many friends and col’eagues of Mr. T. N. Brodrick, who lias been promoted to the position of Chief Surveyor and Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Hawke’s Bay district, met to bid him farewell and to congratulate him upon his promotion. Mr. Clare, chief draughtsman, presided, and on behalf of the officers of the Lands and Survey Department wished Mr. Brodrick every success in his new field of work. Mr. Clare added that he had been associated with the new Commissioner in' Invercargill 35 years ago, and the relationship had always been most pleasant. As Mr. Brodrick did not favor farewell Departmental presentations, he asked him to accept, for Mrs. Brodrick, a handsome pair of entree dishes. Mr. Robertson, Crown Lauds Ranger, said that Messrs Farnie, Roddick, Horne, and Lewis were unable to be present, but forwarded their good wishes. His Honor Judge Jones, Messrs A. Keefer, and Goffe also joined in wishing Mr. Brodrick success. Mr. Brodrick expressed liis thanks to his old colleagues for their good wishes, and. of behalf of Mrs. Brodrick thanked them for their handsome present. . Until Mr. Brodricks successor, Mr. G. H. Bullard, arrives in Gisborne, in August next, Mr Clare will have charge of the Gisborne Lands and Survey Office. . . Mr. and Mrs. Brodrick and family left for Napier by the Monowai last evening..
