LONDON WOOL SALES. United Press Association—Copyright LONDON, May 14. At tho -wool sales there is strong competition. Prices are unchanged. Americans are operating freely. THE MEAT MARKET. [Per Press Association.] NAPIER, May 15. Messrs Dalgety and Co.’s London office has wired to Dalgety and Co.’s Napier office: “New Zealand prime ox beef —fores 2gd, hinds 2£d. The demand is fair for lamb. Tho market is weak for prime crossbred Canterbury, navy 4-J-d, light 4d, North Island heavy 4d, light 4|d. The demand for New Zealand mutton is poor, and the market is weak for- prime crossbred: Canterbury heavy is at 2|d, and light is at tho same price. North Island heavy 2d, light 2d. The demand for Now Zealand beef is good and tho market firm. Mutton, heavy, is difficult to sell at any price. A further decline is possible. Australian lamb is at 3d to 3fd, Mutton heavy 2d, light 2 ; [d. PRODUCE SALES. Messrs F. S. Malcolm and Co. report the following prices realised at: their produce sales on Saturday: Fowls Is 9d to 2s 3d, roosters 2s, egg? 2s 2d to 2s 4d, butter lOd, pears 2d to •’d lb, apples 2id lb, oranges-8s ease, kumeras Id lb, potatoes (inferior) 7s sack, best 12s sack, onions 7s 6d cu t, pumpkins 2s 6d to 4s doz, melons 3s to 5s doz. Small vegetables us usual. HORSE SALES. Messrs Williams and Kettle yarded 11 hacks at their weekly horse sales on Saturday, which brought from £4 10s to £9 each.
