On Saturday afternoon,, in the “Times” Office, Mr. J. C. E. Turner, late foreman of the job printing staff, was presented with a cake dish and watch guard, as a small mark of esteem from the whole of tho staff. Air. L. A. Sharland, in making the presentation, expressed regret at Air. Turner leaving, and said he. felt sure that this was the feeling of all liis. fellow-cm-plovees. Several other members of the staff also spoke, after which Air. Turner returned thanks for the gifts and for the good wishes expressed. Three cheers were then given for Air. Turner. Mr. Benzie succeeds Air Turner as foreman of the jobbing room. Air. W. D. S..AlacDonald was a passenger for South by the s.s. Waikare last night. The Rev. Father Lane felt for Auckland on Saturday morning, and will be away for some clafrs. Aliss Godfrey, the now matron for the local hospital, is expected to arrive from Dannevirke oh ."Wednesday* morning. His Honor Mr. Justice Sim was a' passenger for Napier bv the s.s. WaiIcare last night, to preside over a sitting of tho Arbitration Court there. The Hon. R. McKenzie. Minister for Public Works, left foi< South by tho s.s. Waikare last night. He will remain in Napier for a, day and then will go on to Wellington.
