AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. United Press Association— Copyright ■(Received May 16, 4.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, May 16. The following were the results of the championships: . Champion Sculling.—J. Towns (New South Wales) 1, Richards (Victoria) 2, Dennis (Queensland) 3. Won easily. Time, 16fmin. Inter-State Eight-oared Race.—Tasmania 1, Victoria 2, New South Wales 3. A great race took place between the first and second. It was rowed in heavy rain. Queensland was first away, but Tasmania assumed the leadafter a quarter of a mile and, rowing grand y, led' to the finish, winning by a bare length from Victoria Time, 19min. A CORRECTION. (Received May 17, 12.50 a.ni.) . . BRISBANE, May 17. - Coverdale (TasmMlS) was second in the sculling race, Dennis tlnrd, and -Richards- fourth. The mistake arose through heavy rain making the men s colors indistinguishable.
