GOLF.
SATURDAY’S PLAY. In spite of the bad weather on Saturday afternoon, a large number of players put in an appearance at the golf links, where a competition took place for a club presented by the secretary, Mr. F. H. W. Traill. The best scores handed in were:— . C. Fenwick, 97—8—89; J. tV. Chi inside, 102—10—92; P. Keiha, 90—plus 2—92: Dr. Moore Sampson, 104—11— 93; H. J. Thodey, 109—15—94. Afternoon tea was provided by Mi... White and Miss Wachsmann. To-morrow the lady members of the club will play a foursome, entries for which are to close this evening. On Saturday next a mixed foursome will *e played; the entries for this are to close on Friday night.
