THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

The wool market is animated, everything being very firm. Puketoi clip realised BRI, Waipawa SJd, RS over T Is, Pare 8-id, Koprine lojd. The quantity catalogued is 126,805 bales, and the number of hales sold to date is 122,642 bales.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., yesterday morning received the following cablegram from their London office, under date May 16:—“Wool.—Sales progress firmly. 1 As compared with last sales’ closing rates prices are about 7\ to 10 per cent, higher for greasy merino medium. Greasy crossbred medium and greasy crossbred coarse for America 15. per cent, higher. America is operating freely.”

Choicest New Zealand is quoted at IDis, Danish 112 s, Siberian 98s, and Austrahan 98s •' Tho cheese market is.firm, with an upward tendency. Supplies are running short. There is a general active demand. New Zealand white is quoted at'64s, colored 665. The hemp market is very quiet, bcnio affected by increasing arrivals from Manila.
