The “Daily Mail” states that l’ie bankers’ letter to Mr Asquith produced an effect on the country almost unparalleled.. It carried deeper conviction because of emanating from financiers of immense knowledge and experience, and that fact that several of the signatories are prominent freetraders and others strong Liberals. Apart from the wealth of private banks the authorised capital of the others represented amounts to £213,143,000, whereof £55,000,000 is paid up.
