TARANAKI PROVINCIAL CONFERENCE.

STRATFORD, -May 13
The Taranaki Provincial Conference of the Farmers’ Union was held here to-day. Resolutions were passed asking for better railway facilities for trucking fat stock, requesting Parliamentary 'regulation of the speed of motor cars, deprecating the purchase of private estates by the Government while so much waste land is ‘awaiting settlement-, protesting against the system of taxing farmers on unimproved values, and against continued increases being made by the \ aluation Department on the'unimproved values of rural land, and urging more effective carrying out of the Noxious Weeds Act. and greater secrecy of the ballot. Mr. G. W. Jones was elected president.
