GOLF.

MIXED FOURSOME. There was a record attendance at the Poverty Bay Golf Club’s links on Saturday afternoon. A mixed foursome was the attraction, and 35 pairs Entered for the competition, Messrs J. H. Bull (captain) and F. H. W. Traill (hon. secretary) deserving of credit for the prODVpt manner in which they despatched the large field. The links were in good order, and the dull, grey light made the conditions perfect for golfing. The winners turned up in Miss L. Barker and Lewis (a visitor to Gisborne), who completed the twelve holes in 78, which, .with their handicap of 27, gave them a net score of 51. Miss Bull and W. A. O’Meara were the run-ners-up, with a score of 82 —27 —55. Miss deLautour and H. J. Thodey did the best round with 64, Miss Sweet and Pare Keiha taking one more stroke foi the twelve holes, which consisted .of the first eight and the last four. In addition to the large number of players, there were many visitors present. Mesdames Jex-Blake" and Stephenson kindly provided afternoon-tea. The following were the scores: Miss L.
