PREMIER WAITS ON LORD DUDLEY. ASKS FOR DISSOLUTION. United Press Association— Copyright MELBOURNE, May 31. Mr Fisher, the Premier, waits on ‘Lord Dudley to-day and asks for a dissolution. The opinion in political cir’cles is that it will be declined. Mr Cook states that the coalition compromise provides That there will be ‘no interference with the Protectionist policy of the present Customs tariff, or in rectifying tariff anomalies, and as regards new protection there will he no serious encroachment upon the Tights of the States to control their own industrial affairs. The fiscal compromise covers this and the next Parliament. Mr G. H. Reid, ex-lea-der of the Freetrade party, is convinced of the -wisdom and patriotism of the coalition.
