NO CHANGE IN AUCKLAND

AUCKLAND, June 3
So far the Auckland Civil servants have not suffered to any extent as a result of the use of the pruning .knife by the Government •in carfypig out its retrenchment soiieme. The general impression is that unless some branches of the Civil Service are wiped out of existence the Auckland members, of the .service have little to fear, since in many cases the- local offices are understaffed, and to. further retrench won.a be an impossibility.
HAWKE’S BAY HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
NAPIER, June 3. As the outcome of the Government’s l’etrenobment scheme, it is understood that it is intended to close the Hawke’s Bay branch of the Health Department. ■ Dr DoLisile, District Health Officer, and Mr Munro, Sanitary Inspector, have received notice of the tormination of their services. Ih.o i3orough Council .last night passed a resolution eulogising the work of Dr DeLisle, and ashing the- Government to retain.'his services.
