INQUESTS.
COUNTRY FATALITIES.
Two inquests were held at Ruakiturc on May 31st, before Mr. A. L. Bellerby, J.P., and the following jury: Messrs Thomas Goodall (foreman), N. W. McDonnell, E. Smith, and M. Gavin. The first was on the. body of Victor Burge, who met his death some days ago while hushfalling, and a verdict was returned that deceased met his ‘death by accident, through a limb of a tree falling oru him. It was added that no blame was attachable to any person. The second inquest was on the body of the Native, Poa loha, who was drowned in the'Ruakituri-river recently, and whose body was not recovered for a week. In this case, a verdict was returned that deceased met his death while attempting to negotiate the Eropeti crossing on the Ruakituri river.
