The Otaki Maori Racing Club’s winter meeting opened in dull weather. The attendance was good. Fifteen, bookmakers were licensed, and the sum of £9574 passed through the totalisator, against £10.086 for the corresponding day last year. The results of the Flying Hack Handicap—Tekahurangi 7.10 1, Pukewai 6.12 2, Tereu 8.9 3. Also started: North East, Lealiora, AYaiata. Buoyant, Brilliancy, Miss Vere, Merry Xmas, Prevail, Matira, Swallow, and lnveran. Tekahurangi got the best of a straggling start led throughout, and lasted long enough to udn bv a bare half-length, lime, limn 16 3-ssec. . , Hack Hurdles.—Tauira. 9.0 1, Rendrcok 9.2 2, Diplomatic 10.0 3. Also started: Mount Cook, Polyanthus, Papatawa, Erl King, Chicane, Tokaroa, Peregrine, Lotbair, and Canadian. Tauira took charge passing the stand, and was not afterwards headed, winning comfortably by six lengths, lime 2mm 49sec. . _ n Raukawa Cup.—Sir 'lristram S.Y 1, Kopu 7.8 2, Maliuta 7.13 3. Also started: Tangimoana, Waitapu, Roosevelt, Effort, Waiora, Lady Lucy, Silken Rein, Gaelic, Kurawaka, Astrea. Roosevelt and Effort cut out the running, being joined by Silken Rem half a mile from, borne. These ran prominently to the bend, where Maliuta and Sir' Tristram joined in. Half-way down the running tne> latter took charge, and won comfortably by two lengths, Maliuta a length away. Maiora was left at the post, and took no part in the race. Time, 2mm 11 1- o see.
