FOOTBALL.

THURSDAY COMPETITION. Though, yesterday was a holiday there was a small crowd to watch the football match on the Victoria Domain, and the one game clayed did /not evoke much enthusiasm.. from the few people present. The City Club forfeited to Gisborne, and then a team from the Star Club met an Alhambra fifteen. The Star team had the best of the play right through. In the first spell lv:upara and Gerrard scored trios, and tho Alhambra, team saw half-time without a point to their credit, soon after the opening of the'second spell Carter scored a try, which Atkinson converted for Alhambra. The City team then buckled down to work. Hargreaves and Makora scored tries in the second spell and at call of time tho points were Star 12, Alhambra 5.
