AUSTRALIAN FROZEN MEAT.
UNSATISFACTORY HANDLING. A THREAT FROM THE UNDER- . v WRITERS. \ir~ Unitud Press Association—Copyright. (Received June 4, 11.10 p.m.) LONDON, June 4. The principal underwriters insuring Australian produce have requested the Hon. T. A. Coghlan, Agent-General for New South Wales, to make representation to the Australian Government regarding the unsatisfactory manner of handling frozen meat from Australia. The underwriters intimate that unless the Government forces better handling they will be compelled to discontinue underwriting altogether or iraise rates to such an extent as to make business impossible. They suggest compulsory inspection at the ship’s side, and insulated conveyance between freezing works and ship, as is done in New Zealand.
