THE NEW ALPINE MINE
(Special to ‘‘Times. ’)
GREYMOUTH, June 6. The mine managers’ report on the New Alpine mine for the week ending Ist June, 1909, is as follows No. 14 level: During the week work was continued in stoning above No. 14 level. In No. 1 stope the reef is 6tt wide, but opens out in the next set ahead. In No. 2 the reef is Bft 6in; in._No._o stope 9ft; in No. 4 stope, 7ft; m No. 5 stope, 6ft ;in No. 6 stope gome north, oft 3in. and . going south 10ft. We have started to rise for No. t stope, and there is Bft of solid reef on the hangin o- wall, with another 4ft of reef on the footwall, mostly large boulders and soft slate. The hanging wall on breakin" shows fine gold right across the reef. Have started to get some filling from the hanging wall for the stopes, as the big reef is leaving us short ox filling material. Two hundred and seventeen tons were paddocked ior the week, making the total 961 tons.
