POSTMASTER GUILTY OF EMBEZZLEMENT. (Per Press Association.! ROTORUA, Juno 5.~ At the Magistrate’s Court i A. C. Norris, (postmaster at Whakataue, pleaded guilty to embezzlement ana was committed for sentence; bail being allowed in £350, and two sureties of £l5O each. James Simpkins, messenger at the Whakataue Post Office also pleaded guilty of embezzlement, and was committed for sentence; bail being allowed.
DRUNK ON DUTY.
WELLINGTON, June 6. 4. police constable named Mills caused'some diversion in Manners Street last night owing to being m a state of drunkenness while on duty in uniform. Mills was ordered off duty by Inspector Ellison. Tho matter will be inquired into by the police authorities.

CHRISTCHURCH, June o. Mr. Clement Wragge received information to-day from which he inters that pitcliblendo has been discovered in the North Island. He has also had a communication which implies that the same ore exists in the north pait of tho Auckland district. DUNEDIN SHOW. DUNEDIN, June 5.' The takings during the four days of the Winter Show, which closed last ■night, were £1025, a record in tlie lus tory of tho Society for a similar Show. Last year’s takings were £9/1. l in connection with tho success of the Winter Show it is proposed to spend £l5O in procuring additional space.
