THE HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. . [Per Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 7. The following is the High Commissioner’s cable from London, dated sth June: — The. nfutton market continues dull. There was a better demand at the close of the market on account of the low jirices, but stocks on hand are heavy. Good light weights are getting very scarce. Quotations; Canterbury 2|d. North Island 2|d. "The. lamb market is weak. The low prices are increasing the output. A good demand continues. Canterbury, 4§d for light weights, -id for heavy weights; North Island, light weights 4-id? and heavy weights 35a. The beef market is rising. Stocks are small. There is good demand for all descriptions, and prices are advancing. New Zealand hindquarters 4Jd, forequarters 2-id. The butter market is dull, with very little business doing. Buyers are holding back, expecting prices to go lower. Choice New Zealand it quoted at 103 s, Danish 109 s, Siberian 98s, Australian 98s.

The cheese market is rather quiet, and the demand is falling off. New Zealand white is 655, colored G6s. The hemp market continues dull, and no transactions of importance are reported. New Zealand good fair grade on spot £32, New Zealand fair grade on spot £3l 10s; fair current Manila on spot £22. June-August shipments, good' fair grade £22 10s, New Zealand fair grade £2l per ton; Manila fair current £2l 10s. The Manila output was 19,000 bales. There is no change in the cocksfoot market.

The wool market is quiet, and small business is doing. Bradford tops arc quoted as follows: 36’s (low crossbreds) Is, 40’s do Is Id, 44m (medium do) Is 2d, 50’s (halfbreds) Is 6|d, 56’s'(quarterbreds) Is lOd, 66’s (merinos) 2s 3d. The. wheat market is quiet, but steady. New Zealand long-berried wheat, on spot, ex granary, per quarter of 4961 b, 465; New Zealand shortberried do. 45s 6d. The oats market remains firm, with no change in prices—-via., New'Zealand short sparrowbills, ex granary, on spot, per quarter of 3841 b, 26s Gd; New Zealand oats Danish, ex granary, per quarter of 3201 b. 20s 3d. The beans and peas market-is firm owing to reduced supplies. New Zealand'beans, f.a.q. (old crop), per 5041 b, AGs Gd; New Zealand peas (partridge) per 5041 b,, 49s Gd. The meat shipments from,River Plato during May were; —London, 91,009 mutton, 35,920 lamb -.Liverpool, 164,334 and 13,435; Hull, 14,000 and oQOjNew- ■ castle. 9912 and 357-. Cardiff, 8500 mutton ; Plymouth, 1202 and 907.
