WANGANUI, June 8. Tli© Supreme Court sessions opened this morning. Judge Chapman, in his charge to tho Grand Jurors, congratulated them that their duties would be light. After referring to several criminal cases his Honor dealt with a case of alleged murder, in which three distinct charges were grouped in one, Garlick being charged -with attempting to murder Chat fie Id, with attempting to terrify the latter’s wife, and with attempted suicide. _ The two men had been in company with each other, aTi . Garlick. in an excited state, had oaid that Chatfield was 'killed, and that he (Garlick) had chucked him oveii into the river. Chatfield was subsequently found caught in the scrub on the river bank. ■ He had evidently been dragged across the road to the river side.
