HOCKEY.
TO-DAY’S MATCHES. Tho hockey matches to ho played on the Victoria Domain this afternoon ar e;—Civil Service v. Y.M.C.A., at 2.15 p.m.; and West End v. City, at 3.30 p.m. Mr. R. Grant has been appointed referee in the O/vil Service v.. Y.M.C.A. match, and Mr. P. W. Bushnell will act as referee in the City v. West End game. PROPOSED VISIT OF AN ENGLISH TEAM. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 9. Air. E. Nordon, president of the New Zealand Hockey Association, left by tho s.s. Navua to-day, on route to England. Mr. Nordon stated that during his stay in England he will approach the English Association in regard to the proposed visit of an English team of hockey players to New Zealand. The visit of an English team to New Zealand was mooted, some time ago, and several schemes have been propounded. A club visit was suggested at one time, but the. general feeling is that a team coming out under the auspices of the Eng’ish Hockey Association would bo preferable.
