A SUCCESSFUL EXHIBITION

ASHBURTON, June 11. The sixth annual Winter Show, under the joint auspices of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association and the Poultry Society opened to-day in favorable weather. The ‘attendance was satisfactory. The poultry division included the South Island Championship Show, there being 23 championships on this account. Poultry entries totalled 'S69, or 394 in excess of last year; while in the agricultural division the total entries were 677, as against 580 last year. In the poultry division 'White Leghorns wore strongly represented, and Brown Leghorns, Minoreas, all classes of Wyandottes, and -Black Orpingtons wore also very numerous. Indian Runner ducks were the outstanding feature of tills division; while in pigeons, Tumblers and Magpies were 'best filled. In canaries the chief breeds represented were Norwich and Yorkshire; while entries in the juvenile classes were almost double those of last year. In the agricultural division, though roots and garden produce wore a weak display, tiro fat stock was especially fine; while ioals and dogs were entered strongly. There was keen competition in the Jarm and dairy produce sections.
