At the West Australian banquet, Mr Hall-Jones, High Commissioner for Xew Zealand, was among those present. Mr C. H. Eason, Agent-General for West Australia, presided, and in proposing the toast of “Tho Empire,” he referred to the marvellous growth of the Imperial spirit. The colonies now recognised they must take up a share of the burden of Empire, and make plain'to other nations that they must calculate, not on the strength of any portion of the Empire, hut of the whole.
