HOCKEY.

POVERTY BAY HOOKEY ASSOCIATION. ' The weekly meeting of the Poverty Bay Hockey Association was held last night, .there being present: Messrs G. K. Pasley (chairman), Mackintosh, Grinlinton, Grant, Somervell, Hargreaves, Davy, Olsen, and Doyle (secretary). The Auckland Hockey Association wrote asking what expenses could bo granted in the. event of the Auckland team about to go on tour calling in at Gisborne.—lt was decided to reply stating that tho expenses of bringing the team .ashore and entertaining them would be homo by the local Association. An invitation from the Auckland Hockey Association, to tho annual dinner at Auckland was received. A letter was received from the secretary of the Wanganui Referees’ Association in regard to forming a Now Zealand Referees’ Association -at Wanganui, and asking the Association to send a delegato to a meeting to he held. It was decided to write sympathising with the movement, but stating that owing to the • financial position of the local Association it was not considered expedient to pay the expenses of a delegate. hut that arrangements would he made for representation at the meeting.

In view of the fact that some of the matches were, being started late, and tho dosing stages therefore had to be played in semi-darkness, it was decided to enforce the rule that all players should be on the ground -at 2.15 p.m., otherwise their match would be forfeited.

Jibe transfer of G. Tarr from tho 'Vest End to the City Club was granted.

A committee consisting of Messrs Pasley, Mackintosh, and Doyle was appointed to wait on the Rugby Union to arrange for gate-keepers for the Thursday matches.

Mr. Garrett was appointed refereo in.the Kia Kaha-City match (2.15 p.m.) and Mr. Bushnell in tho match Civil Servants v. West End; Y.M.C.A. having a bye. Tho meeting then concluded. TO-MORROW’S MATCHES. The second round of the Hockey Association’s Thursday shielid competition will ho commenced on Victoria Domain to-morrow. The matches to he played are:—Kia Kaha v. City, at 2.15 p.m.; Civil Servants v. West End, at 3.30 p.m. Y.M.C.A. have a bye. Tho following will represent Civil Servants: Scott, Barker, Bousfield, Hargreaves, Park, Maher, Rudman, Payne, Stagpoolo, Bristowe, and File.
