MELBOURNE, June 15. The colt Leo Grand made a somewhat 'sensational first appearance on Richmond racecourse. He was ridden by tlie Westralian jockey Egan, and passed the judge’s box} tlilc first time six lengths ahead. Egan being under the impression that he had won, eased up. The shouts of the spectators and the pace of the other horses made mm realise that he bad miscalculated the distance. To the surprise of everyone, Leo Grand caught the leaders; in. a dozen strides, but in the straight again Leo Grand stumbled and got rul ot Egan,- an outsider winning. Ine stewards severely reprimanded Egan tor his carelessness. The horse, earned a lot of money.
