Mr Hudson Berkeley, of the Newcastle “Herald,” New South Wales, a delegate to the Press Conference, interviewed, stated that he was convinced Australians were right in deciding to first provide for the defence of their own shores. He added: “We are going to stick to the Old Country-as long as we have a shilling at our disposal. The Labor party is as fully alive to these, matters as any class.”
