In the House of Commons, the Speaker rebuked Mr Will Thorne, Labor •member, for using a' discourteous expression towards the Czar in connection with the forthcoming visit. Several questions, prompted by a strong feeling in regard to the prison severity in Russia, were asked concerning thsTGovernment's attitude towards tho visit.
Sir Edward Grey, Secretary for Foreign Affairs, replied that the visit, was among a series paid by heads of States in accordance with international courtesy. The Government take the full responsibility for the visit. The "Daily News” has a strong leader against the Czar’s reception, alleging that he personally encouraged the Black' Hundred who organised the Jewish massacres.
THE LABOR PARTY’S PROTEST. A STRONGLY-WORDED RESOLUTION. - (Received June 17, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, June 17. The Labor Party in the House of Commons has adopted a resolution protesting against any official recognition by the Government of the visit of the Czar, "under whoso authority and direct sanction so many terrible atrocities have been perpetrated on people constitutionally struggling for political freedom.”
