CONCESSIONS
United Tress Association —Copyright {Received June 18, 9.35 p.m.) LONDON, June 18.
Messrs Asquith and Lloyd-George informed a deputation from the Liberal “Cave,” including Sir J. Dickson, Major Poynder, Sir E. Tennant, and Messrs H. H. . Raphael and H. Cox, that the Government- was. fully, determined to persevere with the land taxation proposal, but would favorably consider amendments designed to ' meet special cases of hardship. Numerous Liberal and Labor members, of the House of Commons have memorialised Mr. Asquith in favor of the proposed land taxes., The “Cave” advocates a tax upon soften, instead of ungotten, minerals. The “Cave” makes objection to the complicated irritating system of taxing undeveloped land, claiming that there is no country in the world, where there is a land tax on double and vaiiable assessments.
Mr. Lloyd-Georgo has promised important concessions affecting the increment of the tax on lands of universities and colleges.
