[Pub Pukes Association.] WAIHI, Juno 18. An accident to the electrical pump at the bottom level of the Waihi Grand Junction mine last week caused a cessation of pumping, and consequent accumulation of water, causing a temporary stoppage of work in the level. At the moment an unusual and important development, which a day or two before bad made its appearance in the face of the drive on the Empire lode, was being prosecuted. This development was the opening up of the seam of rich ore in which gold was freely distributed. This is a most unusual feature, for seldom is there a trace or gold to- be seen in the many reefs of the neighboring mine, the Waihi. Pumning having been resumed and the drained, work in the level is being resumed to-night Considerable local interest is being taken in the development of the Waihi Extended, the adjacent property.
