CONGRATULATIONS FROM GISBORNE. r t®io following telegram was despatched on Saturday by His Worship the Mayor to the Hon. J. Carroll: - ' Congratulations to yourself for the high office bestowed on you dunn<r the Premier’s absence, which is an honor to Gisborno and well as to yourself, and 1 feel sure the responsibilities will __ not be misplaced, and you will hand oack the office to your chief on his return with credit.” Yesterday morning the ply v-as received from the Hon. J. Carroll:—“Many thanks for your kind wire and warm congratulations. It 1 can only justify the confidence expressed in me during the last two years. I shall be more than satisfied. Coming from Gisborne, such good wishes are doubly appreciated. Kia ora. A Press Associaton telegram from Hastings yesterday stated that the Hon. J. Carroll „ Acting-Premier, wut return to Wellington to-day.
