MONUMENT IN COMMEMORATION

WELLINGTON, June 23. In pursuance of the decision of the Congress of 1900 to erect a monument at Berne in commemoration of th® foundation of the universal postal union, the Swiss Federal Council invited competitive designs, and that of Rene St. Marccaux, sculptor, cf Paris, has been selected. It is described as a work of great and originality. Tile monument will shortly be comnleted, and will be unveiled in September, New Zealand being represented by the Hon. W. Hall-Jones.
