Herbert’s (Liberal member for South Bucks) amendment to reduce the increment duty to •5 per cent.. Several Liberals supported it. Others abstained from voting. A fruitless discussion upon the proposal to grant municipalities half tho proceeds of the increment duty followed. Twenty-three Liberals voted with the -Opposition on Tuesday in the division on Major Prettjman’s amendment to exempt agricultural land from the increment duty.
