THE AEON WRECK.
PLUNDERED BY PIRATES. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 24. The scow Zingara, which left Auckland to salvage the wrecked steamer Aeon at Christmas Island, has returned, the mission being unsuccessful. Captain Robinson is convinced the Aeon was plundered by pirates. Two small boats, hauled high ashore by the Aeon’s crew, had disappeared. The hull of the Aeon has almost entirely, disappeared, a small part of the bow only being left.
