NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW
A CROWDED ATTENDANCE. ’Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., June 24. It is estimated that there were fully 7000 people present at the Winter Show yesterday. The gate takings realised £2OO, which does not include free ticket holders or receipts of tickets issued to members of the National Dairy Association. Tlio third day of the National Dairy Show was dull as to weather, but was crowded as to -attendance. Lady Plunket addressed a large audience of women in the lecture room on the Society for Promotion of Healtn of Women and Children, afterwards entertaining them at afternoon tea. The chief events of the day were the ring competitions. A. M. Kidd won the pony leaping, and G. Shaw’s Koka won the Maiden Hunters. The takings at the first three days of the show have been £sll, which is £ll9 more than for the first three days of the 190 S show. In the evening,- at the annual smoke concert. Mr. Buick, M.P., who proposed the toast of the Agricultural De-.. partment. denied that he had ever said anything against the Department. Mr Kirk, in responding, referred to Mr. Buick’s criticisms on the blight being allowed on some apple trees at Weraroa. explaining that it was left there for the purpose of experiments. _ Various speakers referred ,to dairy inspection, declaring it to be necessary.
