PEDESTRIANISM.
SEXTON DEFEATS GRIFFIN. The footrace for £IOO a-side between M. Griffin and J. Sexton, decided on the Domain yesterday afternoon, attracted a great amount of interest, and was won by the latter by about six yards, in 4min 38 2-ssec. The men got well away together from the pistol, and Griffin toox the lead, running a yard or so in front of his opponent for three laps. Half-way round for the last time, Sexton drew level, and the men ran abreast until within a couple of hundred yards of the post, where Sexton drew away, and gradually increasing his lead, won rather easily. Mr. TV. Howard was the starter, and the tape was held by Messrs Dan Barry and F. Higgs.
